Affordable Care Act News

The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services released a new report including the projection that the Affordable Care Act will lead to a 0.1 percent decrease in health care spending through 2021 compared to projections for spending without the law in place. The annual rate of growth for the next decade is projected to reach 5.7 percent with the implementation of the law. The center also reported that more than 14 million seniors have already taken advantage of the law’s new preventive benefits under Medicare in the first five months of 2012.

The Supreme Court is expected to rule on the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act later this month, but three of the nation’s largest health insurance companies have announced that they will continue to offer popular provisions of the law regardless of the court’s decision.
